Wanted to build something for $900 that has upgrade capability
Really wanted to do a 980 and a 6600 but Im tired of waiting to get a new PC and will just upgrade parts later on.. going to be ordering this week.

This is what I would change:

A better power supply for obvious reasons, and I don't use and will never recommend Arctic Silver 5. It requires 200 hours curing time, and if for w/e reason, you have to move your computer tower, and set it down, just a bit too hard, it can crack the seal the Arctic Silver 5 creates, which will destroy it's heat conducting properties.

As for CD/DVD burner, no they aren't REALLY necessary anymore, but I still recommend them as most bootable images (.iso for example) can much more simply be burned to a CD or DVD.
It's not overly difficult to use a USB instead, but why add more steps, (and chances to mess up), than you need to.

What?

1. Open up burning program -> select .iso -> click ok -> reboot -> select boot device
2. Open up bootable USB creator -> select .iso -> click ok -> reboot -> select boot device

If you fuck up a cd, you burn a new one. If you fuck up a USB thumb drive, you just use the same one.

You say you're making a build for uogradability. Why not get a z170 board then? Can upgrade to unlocked processor then ;)

this I'd go all out on everything but lighter gfx card and get new card in fall when new ones are released, and might be able to use both cards too

Installs are less likely to be corrupt with USB. I haven't had an internal ODD for years
