Yes i can stream at 720p/60fps currently but it isnt comfortable. On top of it im playing with a 144hz monitor so anything under 144 fps is very noticeable.
Thinking about upgrading CPU/Mobo at this point. Should i upgrade mobo to allow overclocking of current CPU (FX-8350 + 212 EVO) or ditch it altogether and go for a i5/new mobo?

144fps will put a lot of stress on your cpu. I hardly think that the FX 8350 or an i5 will do the job in that situation. Gaming alone will almost put close to 100% load on these. If you then also want to stream you might need a better cpu. I would suggest at least getting a i7-4820K if you want to reuse your ddr4 ram. Otherwise a i7-6700k.

Have you seen the prices on a 4820K? $345 for a quad core Ivy Bridge-E when you can buy a Sandy-E that will outperform it. Hardest part is finding a X79 motherboard at a reasonable price. Also, they lack native USB 3.0 support.

@OP go with what Secksii recommended and don't bother with this recommendation.

No no and no. Also the 8350 is great for streaming and gaming.

What about the i5 being under 100% load while gaming?

If it's CS:GO you'll be running, 4690K/6600K will have hard time streaming it while sustaining constant 144fps. Just for your information.

the fx 8350 is great for gaming and streaming at 60fps.
144fps puts 140% more stress on your CPU.
