you are joking right?

I don't know how well it does for all games, but someone purchased a laptop with an a10 and asked me to install an ssd for them. out of curiosity I installed diablo 3 and warcraft on the old drive just to see how it would handle those games and I was very surprised at how well they played.
I can't recall if it was 1366x768 or 1920x1080 thought : / I thought it was 1080 but now I am second guessing myself.. that was a few years ago.

not stating as fact but I am guessing a pentium 3258 and a 750ti is roughly similar in price and probably better performance assuming the games aren't cpu heavy.

Well. It is a very good integrated gpu. Slightly slower then the Intel Iris Pro 5200. Or at the level of a r7 240.
Games like Diablo3 should be playable on low settings. Games like Metro last light or Bioshock Series are even with disabled PhysX, AF, SSAA and low blur unplayable.

Also the G3258/G4400 are just as good as the A10 7850k. The G3258 reaches 242 points in chinebench and the A10 7850k reaches 244 points.

only problem with the a10 is that you need higher frequency ram if I am remembering correctly.. not sure if there is much of a price difference anymore or if a certain speed is the sweet spot
also again from what I hear 3258 overclocks very well.. not sure how well the a10 would handle it though.

There are only 2 builds in this topic, and the A10 build wont play games at decent frame rates / settings. Not much of a choice so far.

There's three :P. But I'll wait it out and see what else we might get.

also i want to note that I will happily sacrifice graphics in games for FPS, I'm so used to playing on low in wow/d3/poe/skyrim, but my frames are pretty shitty in all games right now.

Well at the budget level, you'll have to expect that.

At $700-$800, you'll have a much better gaming experience, and at the $1100 level, you will be playing games as they were meant to be played. ;)

this is total non-sense. At 500$-600$ you can get a pc that can handle all games at okay setting. At 850$ you can play build a pc that can play ALL games at high settings and good frame rates.
Everything above 900$ is only needed, if your pushing beyond FullHD.

You simply recommended a terrible build, with a way to expensive mainboard, storage drive, case and cooler. Sure you cant build a good pc if you blow all your money on parts that dont effect performance. But if your handling your budget well 500$ will give you acceptable results.

Little hint for aflak.
If you take your current Readon 6700HD as 100% refference this is how the other grafics card from this topic will perform in comparison
GTX 950 +264%
R9 380 +416%
A10 7850k iGPU +7%

If you want to check how other grafic cards do you can use this site: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-950-vs-AMD-Radeon-HD-6700/3510vsm9272

That's really useful! thanks.

Here's to throw another stick into this pile of fun:

My buddy has an r9 270 gpu sitting around, It's obviously extremely better than my current one, is it possible to build a solid setup around that?

Yep.. then you can get a i5 and a ssd. Reuse the Case and the opticle drive. But make sure that your current case offers enough space for the grafic card.
