Ive never really overclocked and dont have much knowledge on it, but it's a possibility.

My old setup is this

ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processor
NVIDIA 9600gt

Ram isnt worth keeping its dying out, would probably keep my hdds and dvd drives, my power supply is cheap but its almost brand new 550w

I dont remember the case but it is a raidmax something, let me see if I can find the info on it

E- This is basically the same case, just blue and not green

reuse case, hdds, optical drive

which games are you currently playing/wanting to play specifically within the range of the next 6 months (to the best of your knowledge)?
might be able to get a cheaper card while upgrading to the latest cpu/mobo/ram at the same time, or you could throw in a different case if your current one is bothering you

i assume this is the case you have?

you forgot the PSU. in my opinion his "cheap" 550W might be pushing it a little.

yup that's the case, but it has broken door, and slowly getting beat up lol, but again its reusable if I can pump out more gaming power.

Im currently playing random steam games like (unturned, trove, left 4 dead 2, etc.) that arn't horrible on my computer currently, but I want to get into more graphical games like (rust, ark survival,) Im not entirely sure whats coming out soon either, im pretty far behind on these things.

I don't play games like COD, im more into sandbox/survival games like fallout 4, borderlands

sorry i'm not much of a help, it's been a longggggggggg time since i've attempted this.

ark is gpu hungry, so that's good to know :D

can do one of the following options...
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xXPXxr
reuse hdds + optical drive

OR

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/x9GLt6
reuse hdds + optical drive

your choice would basically be between
380x w/o ssd
380 with 120gb ssd
for the links above

oh well that makes things easier lmao
hold on

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/fYH2Hx - o/c build w/390
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yVcbqs - no o/c build w/390x

reused hdds + optical drive

i would go o/c build and upgrade the gfx card as needed.

my build started with the idea of it being "upgradable"
3570k + hyper 212 evo + asrock z77 board
8 gb junk ram (at the time lol)
560 ti
1tb hdd

now it has all the same except
240gb ssd
gtx 970 (prior to release of the 300 series)
16gb ram

depends on how long you want to keep the system around tbh

Looks awesome

I have a question though, because im not super concerned with boot up speeds and whatnot, would it be better to drop the SSD and upgrade the i5 to an i7?

Or would I need to run the SSD on this build, (im not very smart about SSD

If your not sure about your budget you can get some inspiration from my profile. I did some builds and try to keep them updated.
