Best way to reduce temp is buying evo 212 cpu fan, costs 30bux. Make sure u remove old thermal paste before u apply new

If Ur power supply is good enough to run 970,no need to worry.
It's just replacing a fan for better heat sink

pretty sure with evgas warranty you could screw up the card yourself and they would still replace it

and there warrantys are like 5+ yrs
