Sounds like Aida is better but people be using prime cause its free and all. Haven't tried any other stress tests but prime definitely gets my cpu hotter and using more wattage than anything else I do lol

AIDA64 is free.

And yes, that's the problem... AIDA64 already pushes your CPU to unrealistic limits, Prime95 pushes even further than that to the point where the newest version can actually damage your cpu in particular circumstances. It's literally a pointless test that can do more harm than good.

Ill probably use adia, since it seems to ahve a bit more consensus

But i wotn be messing with anything until i have the good PSU.

the other questions are,

My ram is not running at the advertised timings, and it shows up as 1600 not 1833
should i change its settings as well?

My Vid card is a factory overclocked model, should i OC it as well or is it probably near its peak anyhow?

you can adjust the timing and speed of the ram in the bios to the advertised values. the motherboard puts 1600 or 1333 by default.

you should be safe to overclock your video card

So i am overclocking right now.

im at 4ghz 1.3V 5 mins in to my stress test i instant reset.

how do i know when to stop pushing the voltage up and instead bring the speed down.

I have heard of people taking my set up to 4.5. is there a max Voltage i should watch out for approaching?

Mobo: msi 970 gamin
Cpu fx-6300
Cpu cool hyper evo 212

Temps are about 41-43 at 100%

6300 oc's very guzi,
i think u should aim for 4.5-4.8
raise the voltage as needed, but try not to go close to 1.5v imo.
