The Xeon is a cheaper i7 without the overclocking capability.

Gaming PC with 8 core non-OC CPU? wat...

i5 w/ CM 212 and good flow case will do him better in the long run. And when shit gets slow way down the road delid Haswell/DC OC like a beast.

Solid build.

e/ Or get the HyperX RAM Rapture posted if you're sticking to a color scheme, I've just always been a G Skill fanboy

The 300R is a piece of shit, and you've probably never owned a Xeon chip to be able to make an intelligible i5 OC vs Xeon statement like that.

1. 300R is not shit
2. I literally just copied Rapture's build, fixed his RAM mistake, and added the cooler I mentioned for the OP's convenience (meant to say that I did, but it should've been obvious either way)
3. You're right, I've never owned a Xeon, but the fact that you think a singular person's experience with 1 or 2 chips is meaningful in a situation like this really solidifies how stuck in your own opinions of things you are. Not to imply that they're bad, I usually tend to agree with your opinions.

1. The 300R is an absolute piece of shit, especially for it's current price. I will never put anyone through the tragedy of picking this case up. This comes from actual experience of working with it.
2. I saw what you did. The ASRock Z97 Pro4 is a better mid-range mobo pick, and it's usually cheaper.
3. OP will probably never find the need to OC. Furthermore, you're most likely under the impression that an OC'ed 4690k will perform massively better than a locked 1241v3 in gaming. It won't. That said, there is no good reason not to go with a Xeon chip when it fits the budget.

I don't care if you agree with me or not. I care about what the OP is going to buy and how satisfied that person will be.

Corsair 540 Air

/e It's more of a cube case, it's main advantage is that is separates the hot parts from the rest of the parts.

Anymore input on the case? Ordering that soon
