I got offered this for 80 bucks. Kingston HyperX 4x4GB/16GB 2400 MHz. An actual quad channel kit too and not an offer for two dual channel. I am going to ask for time stamped serial numbers to confirm they are a matching set.

How do you guys feel about Kingston? I've never used them before.

Still leaning towards one of these.

Is there any difference between them? They all have the same bin specs.

Can anyone confirm if there is a true difference between a quad channel kit vs four sticks of ram? To my knowledge a quad channel kit has been tested to be compatible.

After doing much research, I am convinced any four pieces of ram will work in quad channel mode as long as they are they same. E.G. Same capacity, timings, clock rate, number of chips and sides, CAS (column address strobe) and RAS (row address strobe).

I have yet to find evidence to confirm that quad channel kits from the manufacturer are in fact tested to be compatible first but I still assume they are.

One guy has two sets of these, waiting on the price: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C11D-8GSR http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231667
Another guy has a four kit of these for 80$: HyperX Beast 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 Desktop Memory Model HX324C11T3K4/16 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104498

I am leaning toward the Kingston has it's a great deal but I want to see how much the Snipers are.

What is wrong with used RAM? They all come with a lifetime warranty.

Nothing at all. Assuming you like shipping things back and forth a lot. ;)

/e I mean you won''t get your comp preggers, using used RAM, but I still like the analogy. :D
