and yes on sc2 most see huge difference going intel, you think those games he stated needs more gpu power?
and you can buy old generation top cards instead of 260/270/etc cards

I have dealt with this issue countless times, hoping dx12 games and newer devs eliminate the cpu overhead

Doesn't need more gpu power, but it's always nice to have and the budget allows it anyways. Either way it'll run those games np.
Suggest him a 4690k and a old Gen card, he'll upgrade both in 5+ yrs anyways
