Am I imagining things, or is there no RAM in that PC?

there is RAM :) that was some old "elite" DDR2, and the heat spreaders only went on the sides. so the green pcb is showing, and silver on the sides.

You have your choice between:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LfFLK8
GTX 960
$935

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cFKDXL
GTX 970
$1070

Neither includes a keyboard and I'm not sure if you will like the case. There aren't many Green/Black cases (at least not on PCPartpicker) and most of them are really expensive. Your two budget options are Cougar and APEVIA. APEVIA isn't know for very good construction though. The NZXT Phantom is a decent looking Black/Green case, but it is monstrously large and over $100.

i dont rlly like the case you picked but i got one in mind i think its a NZXT green/black it looks like a alienware case

That's the NZXT Phantom. Its a Full Tower case, so it's very large, and it is also over $100. Puts a huge hit on your budget, but if you want it, go for it.

doesn't the front bay cover on the mid tower phantoms pop off? could always get a gunmetal mid tower phantom, and color the bay cover and fans, etc. just accents basically.

The need to buy an operating system is holding you back on your budget. Consider alternatives.

Also, that 960 build DeX posted for you is pretty close to as good as you're going to get. That being said, if you're trying to save money, you might consider stepping down that unlocked processor to the locked version. You'd also be fine using a stock fan instead of the $20 aftermarket one.
That right there would save you around $40 total, and since you're not really sure what overclocking is, you probably wont be doing it anyways with this build.

Just some money thoughts.

If it looks like an Alienware case that is 100% more reason NOT to want it. Dell Gaming is an oxymoron.

the phantom case is a pretty good case, if he likes those sci-fi looks then why not :)

there are plenty of case options, it all boils down to preference, as long as the case is of good construction and design. reputable brand helps.

I was just being snide because everything I've ever owned by Dell (except one monitor) has turned into a paperweight. Case is definitely preference.

preference like said before

I find them ugly,

after dozens and dozens of cases, I find myself liking simple box shaped horizontal cases

corsair 540 air, thermaltake core 9, cooler master xb, or highend mm horizontals, and case labs mercury lineup
