Can't tell, not specified.

Was assuming multiple (no # amount?) non-VMware instances of D2, which doesn't require much memory, since OP is 'not allowed' to specify.

Love to use all of that budget.

over 150 instances of D2

Due to what he plans on using it for, he needs over 18 GB of RAM.

Something like that. 32 GB is more than you need for RAM, but it won't hurt to have more in your case.

I do like the overkill 32gb...

Any thing I could downgrade from this setup though to not be at my max but still be totally functional?

You could drop to 3x8 GB sticks of RAM. You'll likely only need that much. Can drop the CM 212 Evo and get a CM Hyper TX3. That would save you like $12. Also, if you can find a cheap used video card online, go for it. For example, you can get like a 560ti or something similar. You don't need a very power graphics card for your uses, and in fact, even a 560ti would be more than you need. Also, you could save $40 by switching to an HDD instead of an SSD.

Could probably save another $50 by getting a 27" TN Panel instead of an IPS.

Get a cheaper monitor, since it's a dedicated D2 machine. Drop the optical drive, go with a cheaper PSU (but still reliable), get a cheaper motherboard and a cheaper set of ram; Could get a cheaper wifi adapter and cheaper case as well.

Pick a monitor you want. You may not even want a 27". You can get a 21.5" or a 22" for under $100.

with 150 instances, you may need more than 1GB VRAM. d2 may not be demanding, but itll add up.

Ah yeah, thats true. He needs a 2 GB card. Each D2 instances uses roughly 8 MB of VRAM which with 150 instances will total to just over 1 GB.

none the less, there should be some options on 3bay, with either 1.5G or 2G.

gtx 570 on 3bay for 90$, would give the vram needed. they use alotta juice though, so idk how safe that'd be really ( showing about 300w pulled, dayum i forgot how hungry older cards are ).

Yeah, but its not hard to get like the EVGA 600-B1 over the CX430. Its only like $10 more.
