I just called AsRock Tech support and they said OC all you want, the number of phases doesn't matter anymore. Well, they said, you'd get a higher OC with more phases, but other than that...no problems.

/e ...and Hermy it DID matter long ago...keep in mind that your long ago is a lot shorter than mine. LOL

I've got an 8320 overclocked to 4.4 ghz on a 4 phase board. Go for it m8. [edit: granted that is also the maximum stable overclock I can achieve on this board ^_^'']

Yeah, number of phases did matter up until the 2500K era, and still matters on poorly heatsinked boards, which this isn't.

I've blown through a few 3+1 Biostar/ecs boards reaching for the stars on a budget, though I've also achieved great overclocks on the same boards.

E: You should be fine for any overclock up to 4.4-4.5 imho.

Yeah and go on overclock.net and look at the OCing posts, at the start of the 2500K era, and before.
