It's the cores not the speed bro.... and he can't get a decent build for $700 with OS and monitor anyways.

typical generalized remark made on this forum to belittle with little thought/intelligence

while nothing is future proof there is a reason the r9 290 costs more, it can handle more, therefore it will last him longer/be more applicable if he gets into more immersive games

but hey at least you DID DO something useful with the benchmarks, kudos.

Yes lets get him a processor that will be holding him back,
Intel dual cores last 3 gens out perform amds best. In wow and cpu intense games

Only time amd exceeds is in multithreaded apps

There are no dual cores on those bench marks that outperform the AMD CPU's ??

no one is denying the bolded...just don't think the advantages are significant in comparison to having a beefier GPU in case he wants to expand his gaming, but it's up to the OP to decide

i wouldn't have commanded you to post the benchmarks if i didn't know what the result would be beforehand (as was implied in my post on page 1)...i just wanted the OP to see it for himself and make his own decision in regards to whether he wants a better CPU and compromise the GPU as you suggest or the vice versa (which my build suggests)

dont even bother guys, he really believes intel is the way to go, even if it means on a dual core on a $700 budget with OS/Monitor like ghot mentioned.
that's pretty much a ~$450 build.
