he just built it last year, and the 900 series is fairly effecient. he will be fine. but ofc, psu is something that you want to invest in, as it could effect the rest of your system. and i vote 970.
also OP, when you install it, do this:
download driver sweeper ( i forget new name, something fusion? )
sweep all your display drivers ( select all display drivers, leave the rest alone - like your chipset, realtek, etc just leave alone )
restart computer
download latest drivers from website ( WQHL if you dont wanna mess with beta drivers )
