honestly all these kids are scrubs

they don't game 100%

if you're a true gamer more cores = more fps = bigger dick = better gaming performance

^24 core 32 gb ddr4, razer headset, razer mouse, razer keyboard...and a bunch of dragon stickers for maximal performance

Damn, u missed out the most important thing for that extra 9k fps increase.. BLUE LED LITES. Guess Ur a scrub too!

while 4 core is the norm now, Dx12 is going to bring better optimizations for more cores. Considering the next gen consoles have 8 cores, [even if all 8a rent used for the game, i would expect more than 4]
Personally...if it's not too much extra, i would get anything that has equivalent performance on more cores

Only reason you should get a 6 core is if you plan on streaming at 1440p or some shit.

getting a new computer for gaming and i am wondering if the 6 core processor is worth the extra $$ for gaming or if a quad core will be fine for the next couple years.

so my choice is i7-4790k proc with 8Gb of DDR3-2133

or i7-5820k proc with 6Gb of DDR4-2133

both would have the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 - 4GB - EVGA Superclocked graphics card

opinions, and reasons appreciated ty.

Wait a few months

Get a quadcore Skylake CPU, With ddr4

more cores more better

just search all cpus and sort buy price : click buy now on the highest cost one without even looking. money speaks louder than any half baked marketing scheme AMD can come up with

Then, repeat that step again. You're going to need a dual CPU mobo for this extreme gaming build
