24'' 16:10 1920x1200 is a good compromise. compared to 1080p, it has the width of 23'' and the height of 27''. you'll see black lines if you watch movies, so might not be the best choice if you do that a lot. i dont play games, so not sure if they have black bars.

it's really good for chatting / browsing / coding / reading / etc

korean 29" 21:9 IPS ultrawide, appearantly has LG's panel, 280$ shipped ( 300$ for picture perfect ) 2560x1080

i got a qnix evolution II. they are 27" 2560x1440 and overclock to 120hz and look really nice for a good price (~300$)
