Here's a comparison of the top i5 to the top i7, well the generic ones ofc.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1261?vs=1260

Read down through ALL the benchmarks. Then, repost and give us this info:

ahh i see the comparisons, well to answer your questions:

More specific use (what games, what programs): counterstrike/dota2/heroes of the storm/starcraft2/diablo3
Planned time until purchase: before new years
Do you need an Operating System?: i run windows 7 home edition
Do you have any specific preferred components?: i basically want to have SLI in my motherboard. Not too sure whether i7 would benefit me much more than i5.
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: no
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: no
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: no
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): shipping is not required since i go to the store to buy all my stuff.

I will be using twitch to stream a bit however and i will be recording while i play games, will i be affected if i use i5?

For compatibility reason please do this as well. It's easier for us to suggest parts, when we know what current hardware we are working with.

Get SPECCY here: http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download ...get the FREE version from the: Piriform Link ...Speccy is a really nice system hardware/temperature, information Utility....simply install it...and run the program...then post a screen shot of the main page of the program, when posting a problem/question on these forums.

/e ...and yes for what you're using the comp for...an i5 would be fine.

For heavy processing such as 3d modelling, i7 is the default way in companies such as the one I'm working for.

I don't know how heavy that program of yours is though. But Intel Core i5-4690K (1150 mobo) should suite you just fine atm.

Yeah, you got two choices...make Intel even richer for no reason...or do your SELF a favor. :)
