Its still not worth spending that much even with a $2600 budget, in my opinion. Especially more so when you gain roughly 12% performance with 980 SLI vs 970 SLI

with a 120hz or 144hz monitor, he'll want as much gpu power as he can get.

from that link the 970 sli only get 132 fps
