I think you should save up and buy a non reference gtx 970 (from what I am seeing that's roughly 100$ greater than your current budget)

the price/performance gained out of that 100$ will be significant..

http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=101999&vpn=04G-P4-1970-KR&manufacture=eVGA (329$ USD)

out of stock periodically, but that's because they are amazing cards =)

also, it will be significantly less taxing on your PSU, which while your PSU is fine...it's not one of the brands these CHD individuals generally recommend, which is why they'll give you flack.

EDIT: not sure why you'd get the 760 over the 280 when the 280 is the superior card statistically...unless it's simply bc you have a nvidia bias..

Depends on the game
But in raw power the 280 wins

And yes the 970 stomps the shit out the 760 for a price bump that is worth it

+1 towards 970. Anything else with your set up just isn't living up to full potential.

Couple things to convince you:
1. Tons of power at an extremely affordable pricel; inbetween a 780 ($500) and 780ti ($700) in terms of power, but only costs $330.
2. Very low wattage consumption, so there's a much better chance your PSU will hold out.
3. SLI option available in the future, especially when 4k gaming becomes a standard. SLI 760's won't be able to touch 4k at a decent frame rate.
4. If you get the 760, there's a good chance you'll want to replace it in a few years with a 900 series card, and prices aren't going to drop that much.
5. Going to hold it's value over time better than the 760... especially when the 960 comes out and starts selling at $250 while out performing a 770 (something the 280/760 doesn't even come close to)

You got a system that can handle it's power, and it's like an investment since it's not that much more expensive than a 760/280 but will last much longer... Think about it. ^_^

e/ Did I mention the ASUS model is wonderful? Well built, great looking, and that 0dB mode is so sex.
