Hello!

It’s been a year since I made my original topic wanting to upgrade my PC. I’m done waiting, and I have a 3070 I’ve ordered that I’m expecting in the next couple weeks. I know there’s an new generation of Intel CPU’s coming this fall and I should probably wait but I’m not expecting to have an easy time getting any of the components and I doubt they’ll make a big enough different for it to matter to me for a couple years.

I’m looking for a well balanced computer build to go with it, ideally for streaming, video editing(potentially) and of course high end gaming. I have a 1080p 144hz monitor I want to be able to take full benefit.

I may also play around with Virtual Machines, so it should be capable of virtualization.

This is my existing computer, I don’t care to keep any of it at this point as I’d probably be best off selling it after I make my new PC.

I’d love to see some suggestions for Motherboards and CPU’s to pair as well as the Intel vs AMD debate as I know I am an intel fanboy and have never wanted to go AMD since I bad experience I had with their products years ago.

I live in Canada, so anything posted should be done in Canadian $ with the Canadian link.
I am willing to spend up to $1500 CAD for everything.

Also there will be 1,000 FG to the person who helps me put together the best price to performance part list.

Going over your existing PC on the link you provided, got some questions.

Is your GPU the FE version? Need to know its dimensions to see if it'll fit inside the existing case or not. Also, you may be able to re-use the same PSU, if it is the FE version.

Overall looking at what you already have, I'd be prepared to purchase everything except for the case and PSU. I also hope you have the mounting brackets that came with your CPU AIO cooler if you decide to go with AMD. The Intel LGA1511 and LGA1200 have the same mounting brackets. But if you choose to go to AMD TR4, then you need different mounting brackets and hopefully they came with your original purchase.

I keep all the original packaging and parts of my PC, so I'm sure I have the brackets in my storage container but I did not buy the FE, I have the GeForce RTX™ 3070 VENTUS 3X OC coming.

Again I am comfortable buying a full new pc build, I would either sell my existing or turn it into a mining rig or maybe use it as a starter PC for my GF.

After looking the specs on your GPU, you can re-use the case and PSU.

CPU - AMD Ryzen7 5800X
CPU cooler - re-use the existing one if you have the AMD TR4 mounting brackets
RAM - 32GB at 3200MHz/3600MHz, because you want to do video editing in the future and game streaming
Storage - re-use the existing ones you have, namely the Crucial M.2 SSD as your main
Motherboard - any X570 motherboard, do you have a brand preference?
PSU - re-use the existing one
Case - re-use the existing one

So I like my MSI motherboard currently, not sure how good MSI is on the AMD side of things but I also want to ensure my board is RGB capable as I hate that my current RGB setup/fans needs to use a control hub and I cant change the colors unless I open my base up :P

did some research removing my question. I am happy with your CPU Selection :)

How this look?

I don't think it's fair to compare the 11900K/10900K to 5800X. Number of cores are different. You can certainly get the Intel i9 or better than my recommendation, the Ryzen9. In my head, I was doing a rough estimate and figured I could leave a few hundred remaining to get whatever you want. Mainly on the monitor even though you didn't ask. Video editing on a 1080 monitor? I don't think that's the norm.

For your motherboard, I think the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi is good for the case. It should have Bluetooth (a combo pair with WiFi, that's why I picked it) and looking at your case's front I/O, you don't have USB-C. So this is the best option.

If you had a case with USB-C front I/O, I'd recommend the MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk.

Are you buying new CPU cooler and storage? If not, you can check those to be $0 so it's easier on the total.

Video editing is a "maybe" plan down the road.

I did put the Tomahawk in the PC as I did a side by side comparison and value the Tomahawk more. Plus its actually the gaming edge that has a USB C on it.

If you want to max out your budget, sure, go for an Intel i9 or better yet, AMD Ryzen9 5900X/5950X. But I think the Ryzen9 will be a very tight fit on your budget...doing the rough estimate in my head.

I'm a bit confused with the Gaming Edge having USB-C on the front I/O. You should be looking at MSI site.

https://us.msi.com/Motherboards

Filter for ATX form factor and X570 chipset. Compare the Tomahawk, Gaming Edge and Gaming Plus. At the bottom is the front I/O.
