I am buying my first iMac and I want to buy a very high iMac.

I dont think I will play games, but I am a drone photographer and my current decent drone already has 4k videos. I don't know how soon 8k is going to become a common thing.
I plan to have the iMac for several years, at least 8-10 years, so I don't want the iMac to be outdated soon.

So the top end iMac comes with Radeon Pro 580X with 8GB GDDR5 memory
There is an upgrade to Radeon Pro Vega 48 with 8GB HBM2 memory for $450

I've never heard of HBM2.
How much better is the latter than the former? Is the former one going to suffice my needs 6-8 years down the line?

a 580atm is imo a mid / mid-low range gpu at best.

And the amount of GPU I would need?
I am not a hardcore photographer yet. Just doing as a hobby

idk tbh, the desktop variant is a vega 56 and its only 50% better.
So its less then a 1070 but more then a 1060.
I also have no idea how much the upgrade would cost either.
But if its over 1-200 imo it's a total waste.

This better % I'm throwing out is strictly for gaming, neither imo will help much for photo editing.
Buy w/e's cheaper save rest for the inevitable upgrade.

yeah the upgrade costs $450 and I also do video editing.
But yeah inevitable upgrades are processor and RAM

You got a while before 8k is mainstream.

So I have actually decided to go with the 580X graphics since I do not have a necessity for high graphics right now. And if in any case I need more graphics 5 years later, I can buy an eGPU?
What do you think?
