Anyone have experience to share?

I would like to use a M2 SSD on my p8h67-m pro Asus MOBO since I'm running 3770, 1060 6gb MSI gaming and 16gb ram, I have no other problem besides my old RAID0 SATA SSD setup, now I understand I won't get the full potential out of the M.2, but would like to use it since I can move it to my new platform when I do get one.

Have you tried to use an adapter for M2 to your old SATA Mobo? Can you share with me your experience?

If you're referring to NVME, that won't work over SATA. Just get a 2.5" drive for now and get an NVME when you upgrade CPU down the road.

Why you wanna go thru so much work when there's no guarantee the chipset will even recognize it? I have no idea if that exists, and if you only have 2.0, you still wouldn't get increased speed...

Because the current newest stuff ranging from CPU to Mobo to ddr4 to SSD is all about to become obsolete, and if I can play any game on max setting at 60-300fps with my current setup I have no reason to get a brand new rig.

I mainly play csgo at Max settings and I comfortably feed my 144hz monitor with 200-300 stable fps.

I sometimes play stuff like GTA5 and PUBG and they are 60-70 with very near max setting.

Now to answer your question, a slightly faster boot and loading screen will be nice, and mainly just doing this for fun, I see some people do this and get a good 800mb speed from PCIE2.0 but info is very limited and so I'm here to seek experience from others who have done this before.

Bottom line is I'm mainly bored and want to do this for fun.

Says it works strictly with M key (NVME), not b key (SATA). I don't have any experience with this and you will be hard pressed to find others because there's not a whole lot of people in demand for an NVME SSD that don't just build a newer system.

Also, CPU/RAM/etc is nowhere becoming obsolete. Until one of these becomes the bottleneck for the average system and the demand for new technology is there, they will still stay on the mainstream. As of now, graphics cards are generally the limiting factor and have a LONG way to go before they start to be bottlenecked by other current gen high end hardware.

Thanks for providing some info, and about current gen I just feel DDR4 has been around forever, about CPU I'm sick of all the lakes and 14nms, And yeah it's totally the fact that people in demand of M2 has built new systems.

Cheers
