I am looking to purchase a new laptop for school (university) ASAP. I am looking to play games on it so a 1060/1070 GPU would be great. I have a desktop PC with a 1070 so I would like a portable gaming machine as I will be traveling to uni and home quite often. A SSD (around 250gb) would be lovely as well. Does anyone know of any good deals that are out right now. Is it even worth it to upgrade to a 1070 laptop over a 1060 for games?

Thanks!

I would love to get this laptop. The only thing for me is that I don't like the gaudy ascetics of this laptop :( My roommate also has this laptop and I don't want to have the same one as him.... LOL

Understandable. These types of laptops are not me either.
Stylish ultrabooks like the one I recently bought (Huawei Matebook X Pro) are more my type of laptop.
Sadly laptops like Dell XPS 15 and Asus UX580 is not in your budget. Though both only comes with gtx 1050ti.
I believe the new MSI GS65 would be something you would love. Thin, light and everything you would like like 144hz, gtx 1060 or 1070 etc. Sadly also out of your budget.

Sub 1500$ gaming laptops would only yield you fat bezels, heavy weight and childish aesthetics.

What games do you play?

Its definitely bulky. But theyre not designed for gaming on the go ;)

Understandable that you dont want the same choice as your roommate. Zwix is definitely right about the price point on gaming laptops. The sweet spot is $1400-1800. Keep an eye on sales and youll find the right one for you.

1. Find style model that you like
2. Give the forum here some info to help you narrow down your requirements
3. Find the requirements you need within the build choices
4. Wait for a sale (amazon, newegg, etc)
5. Be ready to buy. The sale wont last. If you want a deal you have to be ready to buy it within 24 hours.

I don't play many graphic intensive games, if any. I play League of Legends, Fornite, PUBG, and a 2D side scroller. No graphic intensive games that I can think of.

Yes sir, I am looking for something super thin that I can carry with me as I travel between NY and NC quite frequently for school. The most graphic intensive game that I play that I can think of is PUBG.....? I want to be able to play this game at home as I bring my desktop to school and am unable to bring it with me on breaks. I am always ready to buy as I had an internship over the summer and have around $1500 USD that I am willing to spend on a laptop. My current laptop is some ASUS unit from like 2015/16 that overheats like a MOFO and battery life wont even last me through a 50minute lecture...

gaming performance is directly proportional to the battery life. if it has an nvidia card you should be able to have it go into a low power mode while not gaming and that will drastically improve battery life.
