I just sold my old cpu, mobo, cpu cooler, ram and my graphics card. Last week, I pulled the trigger on a GTX 1080.

So... I just need your help to buy a
- mobo
- cpu
- cpu cooler
- 8g ram

Budget: around 700$
More specific use (what games, what programs): AAA games. No VR, no 4k. I'm still debatting between 1440p and 1080p.

I have a OCZ 1000w since 2012, imo it should be still good enough

Wait for coffee if you want.
Peroformance gains will probably be negligible

prolly be better than previous gens since they compete with ryzens now with 2 extra cores on the i5. At least multithread/tasking will improve.

amd has 1/100th the IPC of intel it is junk

LOL IPC on Ryzen is almost on pair with skylake/kabylake. Intels wins on clock speed, and AMD on core count.
Still most programs do favor intel slightly.
