Currently just have $300 laptop I bought about 10 yrs ago for school.

Doesn't need to run high quality games on crazy settings. But would like to know I can at least run / play newer games.

Would like to try CS:GO, D3, H1Z1, PoE

but Mainly just watching movies/ Browsing the internet / maybe some editing of pics

Would like to stay around $500-$750

Won't be overclocking, Doesn't need wireless, Probably need a sound card

Why do you need a z270 mobo

Why do you need a DVD drive

Swap mobo and get a 480

Also change ssd to a SanDisk imo

DVD for my daughter, so I can put on her movies in my bedroom (where the comp will be)

Not sure on the z270.. clueless with hardware. Would like to be able to upgrade components later if I get more into it. Hope to learn more once I have something to work with.

In order to drop the price to around $500.....

Im Thinking about going with a g4650 cpu instead (or 4600 since most 4650s are out of stock.)

Downgrade motherboard, not sure what to look for.
Maybe an h110 but I'm seeing notes that bios might need to be upgraded first with that cpu....
Is that simple as powering on and updating before installing the cpu? Or is it done with the cpu installed? Or would I need a different cpu installed first to update?

Upgrade to Either 1060 or 480 gpu. Any suggestions on specific ones purchased through Newegg?

I would like to upgrade components later, with that in mind, would it be worth it to spend more on a motherboard now? If so any suggestions there?

Ask yourself if you had use for a dvdrom lately.
And you might as well go for a B250 mobo 60-80$.
The only thing I see you missing out on is raid support but you don't have multiple hdd's or ssd's.

Then put the additional money towards an Rx480 8gb or MX300 ssd.

Well my 3 yr old daughter watches A LOT of movies (most of which we have on blu-ray and dvd)
I might like to add another SSD later. Might just use an external HDD though.

Any suggestions on specific 480?
Would this be better? Not really sure what I should be looking at/for

Is there a reason you chose the OC over the gaming / regular versions?

I was worried a MicroATX being smaller, might be more difficult to work on for a first build? Which is why I was trying to look at ATX mobos.
How do you guys deal with only 1-2 connectors for case fans for example, just use a splitter cable?

The gpu is fine, he chose it for price/quality

Form factor should be fine, it's cheaper generally
