Depends on what usage.
Ryzen is out soon. Might shake up the market a bit.

I'm currently using evga gtx 980 playing wow in raid settings. I seem to be getting bottlenecked in raids.

/e I want to get a good one, but I dont even know what's out right now exactly

the 7700k is definitely better but i dont think your CPU should be your bottleneck unless im really stupid.

Overall european pricing (including taxes) is set at €599.99 for the 1800X; €469.99 for the 1700X; and a "measly" €389.95 for the 1700. As always, you can expect US pricing to be even more competitive; perhaps a $349 pricing for the 1700 chip (which also carries a 65W TDP to boot).

Anyways... here's a look at a mid-range modern build, just to give ya an idea.

if you get 7700k you need to get new mobo,
and yeah no way 5820k bottlenecks a 980.
do you have ssd? cpu cooler? latest GPU driver? what are the temps when you're playing?
which slot did you install your GPU in ur mobo?

I have an SSD but it's like 99% full. the game is installed on it
I'll check temps, replace heatsink and check drivers

/e im pretty sure it's not a gpu prblm because my fps is fine it just dips REALLLY low then goes normal and fluctuates while lots of stuff is happening

Monitor your cpu core load when playing. If it ever reaches 100% it's a bottleneck. But really doubt 5820k is the problem it's still quite highend.
