Hey crew, one of the teams at my work is looking at building a system to do VR content creation. No streaming, just for content creation and testing. Anyone have any experience in this area, regarding specs/storage needs/etc? Budget isn't really much of an issue for this (I'm thinking they have at least $2500 to do this, but I don't know the exact amount). I don't know a ton regarding VR setups, particularly with regard to content creation. The timeline isn't fixed, and we have access to different vendors, so what I really need is a good framework to build on.

Budget: Flexible, but probably at least $2500
More specific use (what games, what programs): VR content creation
Planned time until purchase: 2-4 weeks
Do you need an Operating System?: No
Do you have any specific preferred components?: No
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: May possibly need a good sound card, for content creation
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Stock
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): Minneapolis (although shipping isn't a concern, due to vendor contacts)

Why would you use a gaming gpu for content creation?

I would think...this...

BUT...for a workstation card, you are looking at some serious ducats. Like $2000 - $8000

This is the build you want at your budget

But if you can stretch that budget and go with a higher (10 core) haswell-E that will benefit you, as would more RAM (in a bigger GB per stick configuration)

Bit higher budget

Plus you will need optical, extra fans, thermal paste, etc

Lol, I know what I put in the build. OP wants a sound card. Workstation cards aren't cheap, the one you picked is...so-so.
According to EVGA (I just called them), OP is looking at $2000 - $8000 for a decent one.

It is also within the budget and created solely for the purpose of VR content creation

Workstation cards have godly amounts of VRAM...at least the good ones.

/e 8GB Vram is just a play workstation card.
