Hello!

I built this on a budget about two years ago, but I now plan on upgrading it.
Is it worth while using any of the parts in the new build?

Here is the old setup:
Intel Pentium G3258 3M Cache, 3.20 GHz - clocked to 4.2
MK ASRock Z97M Anniversary
Super Flower Golden Green HX 600W 120mm Fan 80+ Gold ATX
DDR3-DIMM2133 Team Zeus 2x4GB DDR3 2133MHz Blue Heatsink
MSI GeForce GTX 760 GAMING OC TwinFrozr IV 2GB DDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCIe
Tower Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 Tower Black No PSU mATX
Cooling-CPU Cooler Master Hyper 412S
HDD-SSD Crucial MX100 256GB SSD R:550/W:330 2.5" 7mm SATA-3

It is mainly going to be used for some gaming and computer science work, so keep that in mind.

Thanks in advance.

Keep the mobo unless you want new new and keep the hard drives / case, cooler only if it supports same socket

Personally if that gpu is good enough I'd get a better psu and cpu anf new gpu if you must

Depends on your budget, resolution, games and programs.

Still its quite a decent budget build.

Budget is probably around 1200 USD (10k NOK).
Resolution will only be 1080p for now.
Games are probably bf1, some wow perhaps. Nothing too crazy.
No heavy programs are going to be used. I have a lab for that.

I would keep the PSU, Case, CPU cooler and SSD
You can easily sell the rest of the parts
CPU 350 NOK
Motherboard 500 NOK
RAM 200 NOK
GPU 600-700 NOK

Maybe you could need some storage as well?

But with the sold hardware and the new hardware the total will be about 8000 NOK.
The build should be viable for years to come.

Just throw a 4690k or w e it is, and a new gpu in there.

Nn to buy a new mobo and ram for like 2% gains

A new 4690k would be even more expensive sadly.

Fucking awkward. I started sorting after matx and itx z170. Thought I picked the small format factor from asus pro gaming.
