Well the benchmarks between gtx 1070 and 1080 is pretty easy to google. There are tons of reviews out there.

LGA 1151 is ideal price/performance for mainly gaming. you will get your 2-4 cores with and without hyperthreading.
The LGA 2011 is for enthusiast. 6-10 cores with hyperthread. usually a bit lower clocks. which actually is a negative thing in most games because it only utilize 1-4cores so higher clocks are better for performance.
But overall multicore performance is way better.
You will get some premium features on LGA2011. like 28-40 PCI-E lanes compared to only 20 on 1151 on the top chipset. Which makes it better for SLI plus additional expansion cards.

$1735.50

You can choose a different case if you don't like the aesthetics of it.
You just need to add storage if needed.

Same build just with a X99 instead if you need the epeen :)

games will be primarily fps like battlefield 4 and the upcoming battlefield 1, diablo 3
i will need an os
i am open to buying parts a few at a time
would like to be able to run multiple monitors (2 maybe 3)
i have a good wireless card and a good sound card
unless overclocking is necessary i probably wont just to prolong life
i have monitors mouse and keyboard

Alrighty. Well build 1 would be ideal. Even to the extend of overkill in 1080p.

You might as well overclock. even at 4.5Ghz your temperature would be ideal for a loong living time.
Got a mate who was on a Q6600 OC'd he been running on for 7 years. It still works this day.
And lots people running on gen 1 and gen 2 CPU's overclocked this day, and its still viable.

Free boost

Well for how the market been for the last 10 years.
The CPU/RAM/Motherboard should be good for another 7 years
The GPU tho should be changed or SLI'd in about 2-3 generations. 3-5 years if we are talking about playing AAA titles acceptable.

This would be my choice: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/3mXjyf

/e As for future proofing...it can't be done. Manufacturer's don't want you to be able to future-proof...it's no conducive to their bottom line. :)

I changed the PSU to an 850w for adding a 2nd GTX 1080 if you so desire, and still having some power left over.

/ee Here I added a bigger SSD as well.
