Alrite so i got more ram a few days ago and just got around to putting it in

its the same agsact ram the only difference is the new one is a newer model i gues? but its same clock speed and voltage etc

there both 2x4 gig 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.65v

and the computer turns on but nothing happens then it shuts down and restarts

is this a problem i need to edit in the bios or is the problem not enough power

so would i need a new pwoer supply in order to have 16 gigs of ram

thanks

You need to .. take the chill pill.

1- shutdown computer
2- unplug/turn off power supply
3- wait 15 seconds
4- plug/turn on power supply
5- press ONCE the power button
6- wait patiently it will eventually turn on

The restarts is the computer getting the right settings for the new ram, its testing speeds etc.

try the sets independently.
could be a bad set (new set) or not compatible together which is known.

Depends, it can take 30 seconds or so of restarts.. Actually last time I did this took me a few minutes to get it posting now that I remember.
Also if the computer shuts down without restarting after a few seconds, press the power button again.
Give it sometime and a few tries if you need to turn it on manually.

does the sticks have the same amount of black chips as the others?

does the sticks have both sides chips or one of the sets is single side?

these things affect tho.

Usually when one of the sticks is bad, it just wont be read and system will run normally.

also does your slots support to work all together or only two?

also try to pull some air into the slots, maybe there is dust.

ok so there both agsacly the same type of ram and sand brand

the computer boots fine with the old ram but soon as i place the new ram in the pc powers up but the red ram light stays solid and nothing boots up aka monitor, keyboard, mouce etc

then after a few secs it shuts down then turns back and and does the same thing soon as i remove the new ram it works just fine there both 2x4 gig meaning 16 gigs in total for all 4 and my mobo can go up to 16-32 gigs i beleve

anyway thats ware im at do i need to edit anything in the bios for voltage or something?
