How do yall decide? Also, how do I tell what equates to what?

I.E. how would AMD FX6300 be compared to an I5 XXXX

it depends on your budget, that's where the argument lies.
intel poops on AMD, unless your budget is extremely low - even then, I would advise waiting until you have more cash on hand, or making incremental upgrades

More specific use (what games, what programs):WoW, Blade & Soul, Camelot Unchained
Planned time until purchase: Whenever (tax returns are coming in next week brahhhh)
Do you need an Operating System?: Yes, but can get one cheap via local college (student ID)

Do you need a sound or wireless card?: I mean I'll use headphones, so yea? Lol not sure #noob

Thanks, I was just kind of curious as I start looking at builds. I saw the fx6300 was like 80 bucks now.

Not needing to play things on super high end real life type graphics lol. Just give me decent with good perfomance. I don't need 500 fps on 4k UHD lololol. Like normal 1080 HD is fine by me and playable. Going to be mostly MMORPG/five nights/etc...

It is a mismatch.

AMD = higher power requirements
Don't always go by clock speed as the deciding factor some games work just as well on a 3.2 GHz CPU as they would on a 3.6 GHz CPU.

Also, check this article out: http://techreport.com/news/28957/the-skylake-core-i3-6320-is-the-gamer-new-best-friend
That's a 2 core 4 thread CPU that has the best single core performance.
Another user showed me this article and I'm absolutely contemplating doing a build just to see if it works.

Good info. See I'm still new to all of this so just trying to figure out what is what. Threads? Cores? lol lots of research luckily my job affords me ample opportunity to research whatever piques my interest. Thanks!

Take your time and decide. There's so many new tech being announced and released every year which only complicates things.

Biggest factor is your budget. There's some builds that can be done around $700 that can play most games at a decent level. There's also some very high priced builds that are just overkill. More you ask the better you are.
