Hello. I am debating buying a new laptop if I can get something that would be a considerable difference from what I currently own:

Purchased in 2009

Gateway p7850u FX Edition
Intel Centrino 2
Intel Core Duo P8400 @ 2.26 GHz
RAM: 4gb (2x2)
DDR3 SDRAM
GeForce 9800M GTS ( 1gb GDDR3 SDRAM)

Topic Title: Need a Laptop PC
Description: Gaming and Budget
Budget: $700? Whatever would work for what I need (see below) this is flexible depending on how excited I get.
I can "afford" anything. But I'd prefer to only pay to perform best for what I need. So I'd need some guidance as to what that would cost.

More specific use (what games, what programs):
-Final Fantasy XI (mostly)
-D2
-LOL

This will be a desktop essentially for its whole life.
I am looking for something though that I can easily use around the house or travel. The gateway I have is 9 pounds or something.
I really like the high end lenova yogas but I don't know enough about anything to know what a good deal is anymore.

Planned time until purchase: whenever the best deal is available

Do you have any specific preferred components?: HDMI out. Maybe for dual monitor usage but probably just single. A SSD for the OS would be nice or at least the option to drop one in.

Do you need a bigger monitor? mouse? full keyboard?:no.

Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 48170

I know you can run FFXI/D2 on a toaster or potato but I think my laptop has lived its life and served me well.

If I need to wait for another time of year to get a sweet deal, I'll wait.
I'm your typical deal hunter consumer. Won't buy unless it's really justifiable.

Thanks so much guys!

Please feel free to offer up laptops for well under my made up budget of $700. If I only need a $300 and it can perform very well, I'd love to hear it!

Someone suggested this to me:

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16834232798&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-Mobile-_-pla-_-Notebooks-_-N82E16834232798&gclid=Cj0KEQiA5dK0BRCr49qDzILe74UBEiQA_6gA-uyreZDmpQTBF6OR90x4xmt2av2BCSoBUHyKb1KvPUAaAo0n8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

I'm just not sure how "cheap" will relate to longevity or performance any more.
Some knowledge would be great :) because there are $2000 machines out there but will I ever use all that it can offer? Probably not. But if I go cheap will I still get top performance for what I want to do?

the resolution is 1366x768 would you prefer something 1920x1080?
if using as a desktop with external monitors I think it would be worth it.. however specs would got up a bit for games.. although the ones you listed don't appear to be very demanding...not sure about final fantasy
it doesn't come with an ssd either.. however most laptops don't until you start spending a little more (I think I have seen some for around $600 that have them standard) if you are comfortable buying one separately though they are easy to install and becoming very affordable, 500GB under $150 easily

Yes to your suggestion for the resolution that would be great :)

The SSD is just a bonus. It would be cool since I've seen how much faster it makes things load up :)

I've moved getting an SSD from the "bonus" category to the "must" category a long time ago.

The performance enhancement is just astonishing.

Lenova Yoga 2 is on sale for $440

Is this still a comparable product or is there better for the money now?
