From what I understand, the i7's have little to no difference from cheaper cards like the i5 4590. Motherboard, graphics card, and SSD seem to be where the money should go - but then again I am not well versed in building computers

I am pretty excited for those upgraded things, but the AMD free sync/ nvidia version vsync seems to make huge performance enhancements with HQ environmental rendering and the like. Why does 4k suck? From my brief talks with people that were relatively well versed in building comps, they recommended looking into the monitor that I linked

Anyone else shedding light on the situation and various technology would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the input so far !

You need A LOT of gpu power to run 4k smoothly. Unless you plan on buying a titanx or a 980 ti, just go 1440p.

reason why 4k sucks, is not cos the 4k monitor itself sucks, but the most powerful GPU's released atm even struggles to run it smoothly... unless you turn down the settings which defeats the purpose
so it's not worth it since u can't use it to it's full potential.

mmm idk guys, what about a crossfire 295 setup?
http://www.digitalstorm.com/unlocked/4-way-quad-crossfire-amd-r9-295x2-benchmarks-at-4k-idnum228/

otherwise, I think you'll need a dual 980 ti setup at some point. depends what amd unveils and how it competes.

Sure would, But if we're talking most viable builds for 4k, are there cheaper routes?
