You bought a shitty pre-built. That's usually grounds for building an entirely new system.

People here hate prebuilts

Basically if you want to use that build, go very cheap, like low end (brand name) psu and cheap vid card. That processor he mentioned is bottom of the barrel and out performs the 4100.

If you were to part it, keep the os, optical drive, hdd and the memory. The mobo does have an am3+ socket, so it could work, but I'd replace it personally.

If you want to stick with the prebuilt and upgrade, it's doable.

A couple dollar difference over the course of a year is not a big deal.

~1.25$ from national grid in NY which is one of the highest electric rates in the country... I did the math.. and thats using it at max power for 5-6 hours a day which it idling the rest of the day.

The power saved could get you into a 80+ bronze $20 power supply, saving $60 total for what really is just a small performance increase. Being green isn't just about $ either ^^
With the interest of saving money in mind, fx 6300 is $40 cheaper and the same thing if you aren't utilizing the extra cores (which most gamers don't). Grand total of $100 cheaper that could be spent elsewhere.
