Hey guys, I'm doing early access campaign but notice my GPU is going up to 89C (192.2F)

Granted I was playing on max settings but even after reducing it to mid settings, it reaches this point.
I have a 3070, with triple fans and this was the first time I've experienced something like this.
I'm not trying to brick it like most people did with New World.

Any suggestions? This is the only game I've ever had this issue, my built(not prebuilt) is barely 2 years old.

NZXT H510 Elite ATX Mid Tower Case
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra Gaming

Fan configuration is performance (Max rotation and they are 140mm fans, and all fan slots are filled)
All gpu fans are spinning.

I was not aware of a custom fan curve. I will download MSI- Afterburner and see what the results yield.

you can do your case ones in a custom fan curve in your bios as well

may want to look into updating your 3070's firmware, try downloading evga precision instead of afterburner

try locking your fps to 60 in the nvidia control panel to check if you still have heating issues. If you do could just be something as simple as cleaning your card if it doesn't then its a utilization issue and its consuming too much power.

Thank you for all the help. I will test it out and see if it still overheats while playing MW2

You want your GPU at full utilization, that is the concept behind playing games. 100% Utilization is good, 100 degrees is not.

Being a brand new game, it may not yet be fully optimized.

Have you previously had any issues with overheating playing any other games, or only MW2?

Could be a simple case of undervolting your GPU to reduce excess and potentially unnecessary draw.

89 degrees is not awful btw, but entering the realm of getting hot.

the 3070 thermal throttles at 93 degrees, so it is very close to that 'realm'.

First time I got to this issue and only happened in this game.
I tend to play on Max settings too, so I was surprised.

Seems like this game is most certainly not optimized yet and there is some uncapped FPS or more FPS being used than expected.
Trying 1 step at a time:

I followed the guidance above to cap my FPS to 60 and my GPU never went above 72 degrees, I raised it to 155 to match my screen refresh rate and it stays at a stead 78 degrees now.
So I think it is safe to say the game is not optimized and to use the Nvidia Control Panel to cap frames on this game.

Glad to hear it
