So I plan to build a new computer when the new graphics cards come out. Is it a smart idea to take advantage of the sales they have on current generation graphics cards or is it smarter to wait for the next generation graphics. Budget would be roughly 3k so if someone could inform me the best time to buy it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not even certain if I should even buy a desktop build though since I do have a laptop that runs a 1060 and it's mostly sufficient for my needs I also have an Xbox series x. Someone let me know what to do.

Really depends on;

- What Games you intend to play
- What Resolution you intend to play at

We have seen over the last 3 years how new launches go for chip related products, often shortages/backorders ~ the current generation is a massive jump from your 1060, and the RTX4000 series cards will be a jump up from current RTX3000 series, ofc. But not even close to the magnitude of 1060 to RTX3000 series.

I would take advantage of deals on current generation. The prices are great now, and would probably drop even lower once the RTX4000 series launch, but not by a massive margin. Probably 10-20%, depending on model, etc.

Thank you. Since the current gen graphics will go down when the 4000 series drops I think I'll wait and then reassess what I can afford when the time comes. I play all different kinds of games from low end to high end graphics so maybe waiting is a good idea. Again thank you for the info.
