If its been a year or 2, the fans are probably full of dust and need cleaning. If you are more technical, i recommend changing the thermal paste for both cpu and gpu.

Also a cheat way if you dont want to open laptop. Go into battery manager , edit power profile and reduce the cpu power percentage. For me putting it to 99 % stops my cpu from boosting. Reducing thermals from 70c to 55c

Air circulation can cause, flat surface for putting laptop is good for air circulation or try to put fan cooling pad
