hey all,

in 1 month i will need to travel between 2 houses for almost 1 year (my own house and that of my girlfriend - due to complex jobs atm)

i got an old macbook 12" 2015 that is fine for just reading newspaper/youtube etc... cuz at home i got a desktop with a 1660TI/16gb ram etc ...

now if i want to keep playing some games i will need to buy a "decent" laptop since i don't want to get a desktop at her place ...

what should i aim for ?

- screen size (atm i'm thinking about 15" ... 17" seems a bit large for travel)
- Resolution (1080p - 1440p (i think 4k is bit useless ...))
- 16gb ram seems enough to play everything?
- i guesse a decent 11 or 12 gen processor will do the trick

biggest issue is that i don't have alot of knowledge about GPU's ...

most laptops for gaming aim for RTX 30 series, will 3050 do ? or should i aim for 3060(ti) or 3070(ti)
can i run almost all games (that are out now or next year) with 4 gb / 6 gb / 8gb GPU ?

i'm willing to spend like €2000 or bit more if it gives me future proof. i also don't like to get really bulky laptops. Something like the MSI stealth editions are more my kind of thing (looks cleaner)

thx for the opinions :)

3060 works well up to 1440p, otherwise look into a 3070

this one is great for price , my advice would be to buy another 8gb stick of ram if there is one slot available
the same version of this laptop but with 16gb is 1k usd so you might aswell do it yourself

Within the last year, I had a relative and 1 of my online gaming friends buy a laptop from here ( thinking of getting 1 myself for Christmas ) even though I have very expensive desktop already.

They have several options for 15 and 17 " models.
My friend and relative compared laptop sizes in stores , and both of them wanted 17".
So thats what they ended up ordering online.

These Same Models can be Purchased on websites like Amazon.com
The online website + Amazon both have really good warranty.

The laptops themselves are made with higher durability parts with better heat controlling hardware/parts ect.
Sager has only been out for a couple of years , so you may have not heard of them / won't see many forums about troubleshooting them as of yet. ( Not saying they are bad, I'm just referring on Do-It-Yourself Setup guides ) when plugging them into tv's projectors wireless remotes ect.
But they have good tech support, so don't worry.

Not saying you absolutely have to get one, just saying there are something to consider.
Note: you will notice the parts they use are high spec / Highest base rates.
Beware there very bright screens Great Anti-Reflection

one of these could work, but it's just simply an option and nothing else. they don't have a really good warranty. it's standard. their service will be slower than others, but it's fine. they aren't made with higher durability parts, they do not inherently have better heat control. they have been around for more than a couple of years, 1985. some other brands use Sager. they source parts from Clevo mainly. you aren't getting an engineer turning the sound in reference to the case, or something like that that you would get from a brand farther down the pipeline.

With smaller laptops ur gonna how thermal issue like 90Celcious temps
The way i tackled this was to change the cpu frequency in battery manager or user a low power profile. So you are leaving performance anyway.

My 3060 can play pretty much any game on high at 60 frames at 1080p min.
There is also dlss which now help improve performance and even future proofs ur gpu. So i think a 3060 would be a great choice. If u want to budget and not spend loads. If you are will to spend the 2k euro you could go with a 3080 which should easily do 1440p 60 frames
