It's a known "issue" that the R7 5800X is a heat machine. I have a pretty decent 240mm AIO with the pump running at max and fans about 1300 RPM constantly. The CPU still sits about 50/60 idle and 1.4V. I can underclock/undervolt it to about 1.06V/4200Mhz but it's not very stable.

I play in a pretty small room so temps inside the room get to about 72F while my PC is idle. Is this just an issue with a 5800X or an issue because I play in a pretty small room? Just looking to keep my room cooler since I will be moving in with my GF soon and don't want to driver her out of the room with temps being crazy high. I also don't want to have to run my fans on full blast to keep ambient temps down. Would running a different CPU, say a i7-12700 keep room temps down but keep around the same performance?

Thanks for any input!

Seems a bit high for idling. How cool is the air in your room? What paste are you using and how much did you apply? What cooler and how old? Could be some air in the loop

Will have to get back to you on the paste since I'm at work atm. I applied just a little bit more than a "pea" size in the middle of the cpu. Using a H100i Elite Capellix that's only about a year old. Has been pretty hot since initial build.

You'll have to tinker w/ the undervolt settings more to get the cpu running a bit cooler. Mine runs 35/40 at idle.

With curve optimizer set to per core, ppt, tdc, and edc set to custom here's how mine does on cinebench...

edit: i'm on a cryorig h7 air cooler as well.

I think using AIO it's enough. But it can be issue from how old the AIO and what thermal paste did u use and hows the room temperature
