BOOTMGR error messages could be caused by unplugged, loose, or malfunctioning power or controller cables. Try replacing the PATA or SATA cable if you suspect it might be faulty. Perform a Startup Repair of Windows. This type of installation should replace any missing or corrupt files, including BOOTMGR

Sounds like Either the Hard drive was full and Over-wrote itself, or somehow got disconnected while it was saving data ect.
Sometimes can be caused by a virus or bad driver updated ( was normally a windows xp,vista,7 thing )

This can be fixed by Inserting a windows installation Disc , it will repair the missing bootmgr within 2 minutes, and all should be good from there.
If you don't have a Disc Drive you can always use the USB Stick Version.
