Hi,

I have been trying to figure out why my PC is having issues in D2R. It is not constant lag, but randomly will freeze/stutter for anywhere between 2 and 10 seconds. It is not linked to any specific actions in game. It will happen in P8 games and while sitting at the title screen just as frequently.

The only other game I play for reference is FF14 and I have 0 issues in that game

My PC is old but I thought it should work
I5 2500K
RX580
16GB ram
SSD

I started watching my gpu/cpu whenever this happened, and noticed 100% of the time, my cpu load goes to 100% on all cores and my gpu load drops. I also noticed that the graphics card voltages will drop slightly when this is occurring, not sure if this is related. I have a 750W rosewill power supply that I think is still solid.

Originally I thought my cpu was bottlenecking, so I overclocked the I5 2500k from 3.7 to 4.2 (stable temps/no issues) but it didnt help at all. After that I upgraded my ram from 8gb to 16gb just to be safe and it made no difference.

My device manager is telling me I have the latest driver for the RX580. I am running windows 7.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

This pic shows my cpu/gpu load peaking/dropping.

check your temps

gpu temp hovers around 75....it shouldnt be any concern?

CPU temps also never go above 80 after overclock change

if you're sure the MAX temp is fine i'd recommend you reinstall the GPU driver, ensure chipset driver is up to date. diag storage, than run a chkdsk, then do DISM, then SFC. check event viewer for events that occur at the same time (app/system view). disable AV and anything not needed to run D2R. you could also try limiting FPS to something very low, see if it still stutters.

Freezing of the whole PC is usually attributed to ram problems, or instability. You say it's overclocked, so personally I'd verify that its fully stable with some bench tests first. Or try stock and see if it still happens.

I've noticed this game is a pig on the CPU. My 4790k @ 5ghz will sit on the loading screen through TPs for over 30s occasionally. No predicting it and I'm not sure there is much solution other than upgrading hardware.

Could make sure that your game is installed on SSD storage rather than HDD, but other than that no suggestions.

Install MSI Afterburner? Modify the Fan RPM Speed Curve?
Normally can just install, click settings, and click the default fan curve check-mark-box.

I fixed this problem for now.....I change D2R in task manager to high priority and it fixes it. I have to do it each time I start playing.

I tried this months ago and it did not work, but now it does so maybe some patch made it effective somehow. Not sure why it works......I have nothing else running in background but something was taking priority and causing frequent lag/stuttering.

Anyways thanks for suggestions!
