Hi everyone, So I've done speed tests on my laptop via WiFi and direct connect neither of my speeds compare to even my gf's gaming laptop on WiFi. We get 400 down and I'm lucky to surpass 180megs on a speed test. I have a Legion 5-15IMH05H (Lenovo) - Type 81Y6.. it has slow internet no matter if I'm directly connected or on WiFi.. Does anyone know of a fix?

I was able to fix it by doing a complete factory reset. I'm assuming a driver update screwed up something.

Hi Branded,

So the root cause is most likely not a driver update, often times there is a compatibility issue that affects your network card, configs or drivers. With your laptop, the root cause for slow wifi can even stem from game launchers.

I’ve seen computers have compatibility issue with Genshin Impact launcher. If the issue persists, I recommend uninstalling a few programs one at a time while running network tests in order to find which software or launcher are causing compatibility issues.

Hey Krawk!

I appreciate the feedback and that's honestly something I didn't even think of because I never heard of that before. I did a factory reset on the laptop and it seems to have fixed the issue. I've been downloading games and stuff and so far no issues! *fingers crossed*

Good to hear! Keep observing the issue and keep a mental memory of what you’re installing. If the issue persists or comes back try working your way back and uninstalling the latest programs you have. It would be good to know the root cause so as to advice others what to look out for next time.

Also: honestly it could be so much stuff running at once in the background that you didn't notice, that your hard drive had Limited speed to read/write, and couldn't provide a proper speed test.
