Looking for a really well built laptop with physical buttons below the trackpad. Thin & light not required (Tend to be poorly built & poorly cooled)
Ideal would be ones that wrap around the front lip of the keyboard deck.

Yes a mouse is superior but not always practical.
When I do use the trackpad, physical buttons below the pad are necessary. which are disappearing fast (Thinkpads which used to have them above & below the trackpad now just have the uppers for their silly little eraser joystick)
Most machines designed for CAD type work still have physical buttons which are acceptable when not too far back, but the front wrap ones are much more ergonomic.

Y740 is the best all around machine I have come across but those were made a couple years back and cap out at 9th Gen Intel & GeForce 20 series which is OK for now but the future is bleak.

Need: Physical left & right mouse buttons, high quality build, well designed keyboard layout, discrete GPU
Want: Front wrap left & right mouse buttons, USB C charging, 4 Lane Thunderbolt, MUX switch, unsoldered RAM, 16:10 ratio, 2 NVMe M.2 Slots
Don't Care About: Price, Thinness, Lightness, Bezel size, Webcam, 4k Resolution or refresh rate

imo the Thinkpad P17 probably closest to your iso? top buttons though. i think thinkpads probably have my favourite laptop keyboards ever. don't gotta use the gimmicky eraser button if you don't wanna, i don't use it on mine :p also has the nicest 'feel' touchpad i've used
top of line:
Intel® Xeon® W-11855M
NVIDIA® RTX™ A5000 with Max-Q 16GB
2 x USB-C Thunderbolt™ 4
USB-C

Thanks but as you said it does not fit the requirements of having buttons below the trackpad.
Also the Xeon W-11855M offers no advantage over the Legion Y740's i7-9750H was hoping to find something 1 or 2 generations newer.

Thanks looks like a rebranded Tong Fong that was not on my radar.

edit: Seems to be one of those laptops with desktop components. 2 power bricks means zero battery life and no chance of USB-C charging.

You won't any laptops with the kind of touch pad you want anymore with all the features you want. Everyone is moving to a one piece touch pad.

Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 looks like it does everything I could ask.
Will have to test out assuming the keyboard is good, they can have my money.
