I recently purchased a new ASUS Tuf 28" 4k gaming monitor from Best Buy. The display is great and everything, but randomly it goes black. I've reviewed the event viewer logs and I'm not seeing any errors related to the display, and my other two monitors work fine. In addition, I've tried removing one of my monitors, and using the other cable that I know worked fine, issue persisted. I've changed the port on the graphic card which is a 3080, issue persists. I've unplugged my monitor, and plugged it back in, checked connections, ect. Another issue I've noticed is that if my desktop goes to sleep, my other monitors come back when I hit a key or move the mouse, but my new monitor I have to cycle the power. I'm guessing the issue is with a faulty monitor. Any feedback?

Hi jBox

Sorry to hear about your monitor having issues, So lets try a couple things before putting in for a replacement.

Try uninstalling your video card completely and let it install the Windows drivers as the default. Do some startup trial runs to see if it continues to do blackscreen. If it doesn't, it's probably a driver error of some time. If so then it could be any number of things. Monitor connector, bad cable, bad video chip connection, bad video chip.

I was thinking it could be driver as well, but I'm baffled how I missed such an obvious step. Thank you for the feedback, I'm testing this now, and thus far no black screen.

Sounds good, keep me updated, if all else fails im pretty sure that monitor got a 3-6 month manufacture warranty.

SO it started happening again, but its completely random intervals. It also seems to only occur to my new ASUS 4k monitor that I just purchased. The monitor often doesn't detect a signal after the display turns off due to inactivity, or when it comes back from sleep mode, just something else to note. I've changed my main monitor back to my older 1080p Predator 24" monitor, and thus far it doesn't reproduce there. But when I was checking event viewer on my 4k monitor with that 24" as the main, it occurred again. Just noting once again, I've already tried using a cable I know worked. Thinking the next step is to exchange this monitor and see if issue persists.

Yeah, in this case I was using display port. Took it back today after reading other folks having the same issue with same model.

I ended up getting the above mentioned monitor, and the issue has not occurred as of yet. To be fair, I've only been using the monitor for 24 hours, but honestly the experience thus far has been night and day. While I'm not a huge fan of the 32", the quality is higher despite only being $100 more and of course the issues mentioned previously have not occurred.
