I am looking to install security cameras around parts of my property but I don't have far enough wifi for it.

The distance is around 500 ft with trees. I tried a wavlink outdoor antenna but for some reason it is extremely weak and gets 1mbps down .5 upload on gigabit internet.

Would it be possible to use fiber optic cable with a outdoor access point? or any other ideas I could do?

Yes, you can run a fiber/ethernet and use an AP. There's also WiFi range extender or repeater with ethernet as well.

You may want to consider commercial AP models and if you're running wires outside, make sure they're properly rated for outdoor use.

I am a bit curious why you want to run fiber rather than ethernet.

Yes, about 320ft is the limit for ethernet. So what's wrong with running ethernet up to 200-250ft and installing a commercial, outdoor AP?

Maybe I'm missing something here...

I figured the trees and brush would block it
Do you have suggestions on which ap to get?

I'm not familiar with your geographic area or the general layout of your home relative to the security cameras you want to install. I am not picturing a circle with a radius of 500ft, with your house/home is the center and security cameras on the circumference of this circle.

I'm assuming your house/home is closer to the street or main entrance and the security cameras are for your back yard or the more isolated areas, that is away from the street or main entrance. Hence, just bury a 200-250ft cable, rise up to connect to the AP that will give you maximum coverage as possible.

Yes the trees, branches and bushes will interfere but they're not sheet metal nor reinforced concrete.

I recommend looking at Ruckus products.
