Been using this PC for quite awhile now, and the game I play the most is PoE, and it has been demoralizing playing the last few leagues because it runs like absolute shit. I know that's partially the games fault because it's not optimized well and some other games run "fine" but I know a good PC has no issues, I get lag on non-juiced maps with not even graphic intense builds, I'd like the option to play builds like that.

Should I pick up a new graphics card like a 3080 or do I need a complete overhaul at this point?

Specs:

Intel Core i7 4.2Ghz Kaby Lake 14nm

16gm DDR4 RAM

GTX 1070

ASUS Z270-A

I've been trying to get a deal on a graphics card for awhile now but just never get lucky on BB drops etc, they are always outside of my area and won't ship.

I'm tempted to just buy a scalped graphics card but I'm worried my other parts are just too out of date and will run into a bottle neck.

I'd appreciate any input, thanks.

If you end up getting a lower 3000 series NVidia GPU (like 3060 or 3060 Ti) or even any 2000 series NVidia GPU, then I think it's best if you keep the rest.

If you end up getting a 3080 GPU, then I think it's better if you upgrade everything just to make things on par. This option is also recommended if you're planning to play graphic intensive games.

I actually just got lucky and got a 3080ti from a bestbuy drop. I'm gonna try it with my current setup but since I got it, definitely plan on upgrading everything. I honestly don't even play super graphic intensive games, but I like to play at 144 fps and some games even on low settings I just cant hit that with my current 1070
