Hey so I know very little about computers so I just went in and bought a prebuilt today for Diablo 2 Resurrected.
The setup came with 8gb ram installed and I asked for another 8 gig stick.
I didn't know anything about mix and match as I assumed 8 was 8 and there was no difference between the ram.
I'm home now and I end up reading that If one stick of ram is slower then the other, the computer will work at the slower speed ram.

The stick of ram inside the computer sais:
DDR4 / 3200 / CL22 / 1.2V

The stick the guy sold me separately sais:
DDR4 / 2666 / CL19-19-19-43 / 1.20V

So is that correct that I will not be getting the speed of the 3200? Do I go tomorrow and return the 2666 and get a 3200 or is this fine?
I trusted the guy knew what he was doing.

Thanks for any and all help.

Tell him you want ram that's the same model number.
That's some non-generic timings on that ram

Depending on the Brand Name of the ram card, you may just want to replace the original card all-together.
As if for lets say its rated for 3200mhz, Kingston vs corsair , Kingston might use cheaper chips, that may run hotter, and not actually give you the performance your looking for.

Another Example is the ram speed you listed.
3200 / CL22 = 13.75 Nano Seconds
2666 / CL19 = 14.25 Nano Seconds

So by the sounds of it your 3200 is faster, but sounds like a really super cheap Quality
2666/ CL19 is lower mhz, but the calculations are faster which overall is not that much slower.

In the picture above, i listed a 2666 / CL16 = 12.00 nanoseconds

CL = Cas Latency

3200hz / 16 CL = 10 nanoseconds. pretty Fast and affordable.
The 2666 is pretty much sold out in most places, they restock fairly often, or can find on amazon.

but between those, there is not a huge performance difference if just playing games.
would only really matter if running a server or doing video editing and such.

Also: If you live in a really cool/cold area, as long as its the same brand, and same CL, you can always overclock the 2666 hz to 3200.
