I currently play Valorant, CSGO, and FFXIV. I currently have a 1080 144hz monitor, but I'm deciding on either a 240hz 1080 or a 144hz 1440.

Would the 3080 be an overkill for me? I've been researching both GPU and I've been getting different opinions on whether 3070 is enough.

i have a 3070 on a 4k 120hz 50'' i target 60 fps @ 2160p max settings with vsync it holds 60 fps very well on every game no tearing or stuttering (havent tried cyberpunk) but i guess it depends on what your target fps is... if ur trying to play at 144fps then i prolly go for a 3080 but if ur also targeting a lower res like 1080p and 1440p then i would imagine a 3070 can handle that.

Grab a 6900 XT, cheaper than the 3070 and way better performance

Can I get 240 fps with medium settings with 2070? I have a midtier radeon gpu from 4 years ago that allows me 144 fps

I am running battlefield 5 at 144fps 1440p with no stuttering, so I assume 3070 would do 240fps for you since valorant and csgo arent that gpu intensive.

that is hmdi 2.1 is samsung
and those mofos gross leds

so when my tv says 4k uhd hdr 120hz native resolution 3840 x 2160 hdmi 2.1, which exactly what i have connected to my gpu with a 2.1 hdmi cable with my hdmi input set to hdmi 2.1, what does that mean? are they lying and only samsung is telling the truth?
