Hi, looking for advice again.

I'm about to purchase some HDD's for my NAS and I don't know which to chose.

Western digital RED or GOLD?

Red is NAS specific and I'm already using them on another unit.
Red is also for NAS but should outperform RED: more cache, higher RPM.
Prices are basically the same.

Also, to make more confusion... RD, RED Plus, RED Pro...

To me RED Pro and GOLD seem like the same...

Any cons in picking GOLD over RED? Thanks!

Golds are enterprise level hard drives - I believe they have a better warranty and can take a bit more of a beating (check the rated hours). Also check the Read/Writes and the RPMs of the drives as well. Same goes for PRO versions - I think they specifically just have better read/write then their same color equivalent but i could be wrong.

IMO unless you find a sale or something just stick with the reds. Also could look into shucking some external drives for more cost savings (if you don't care about warranty).

In the end I bough 14TB Gold ones. 512 MB cache was too juicy to renounce! Paid them with some discount so it should be fine! Thanks! :)
