So I am looking to purchase a new monitor as a secondary display for my laptop.

The laptop has a i7 7700HQ with GTX 1070.

My current monitor is 5 years old this October and is slowly dying.
ASUS ROG PG279Q

I was looking @ the Acer Predator XB271HU as a replacement for $499.99.

I plan on building a new PC next year when the 3080 is readily available and new Zen processors are out.
Thank you.

The monitor no longer has memory retention and defaults to factory settings everytime it loses input/restarts.

It flashes RGB color for burn in when idle. Then just today i started noticing horizontal white lines shaded around the screen.

Started looking further and considering this monitor. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YGZL8XF/?coliid=I18O8FH1BTIDUO&colid=247QVMN829WWF&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

I did a factory reset, I am ordering a new surge protector and gonna unplug it now for a while. Using Mini DP to DP from my laptop.
